In the Autumn of 2008, two major hurricanes swept mercilessly though the island of Cayman Brac - Gustav (Cat 2) and Paloma (Cat 5). Nine months later, the majority of the damage on land has been repaired and life is returning to normal. It is now time to attend to the damage these tempests wreaked on the underwater city of Atlantis. This video is the first in a series that will document the damage caused to Atlantis followed by videos of the arduous process of restoring the underwater mega artwork of Foots. Included will be the addition of 21 new sculptures to Atlantis. Video 1 ---------- My first visit to Atlantis since the storms. I spent 45 minutes in the city taking pictures and video. The effect of the storms is extensive with many sculptures knocked over (and partially buried in the sand) or moved, turned and/or left leaning. Some of this video is focused on the grand archway. This 15000 lb structure had it's 5000 lb top beam swept off. The good news is the incredible pace of growth on the sculptures (sponge, coral, etc...) and Foots will be doubly pleased to see that most of the residents of Atlantis (he's named them all) have returned and are living happily and harmoniously in and about the city. These include an Eagle Ray, Sting Ray, Queen Triggerfish and a Barracuda. I only saw one of the mated pair of French Angelfish, meandering around the overturned sundial - it's former home... not sure where it's mate is... Enjoy the videos. Mark
